The UEFA Euro 2008 tournament took place in Austria and Switzerland, with Spain emerged as champions, defeating Germany 1-0 in the final. Spain showcasing their dominance through their possession-based style of play. David Villa won the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer, while underdog teams like Turkey and Russia impressed with their unexpected runs in the tournament, making it a memorable event for football fans worldwide.

I am very exciting to rank this set and 2008 had many world class players.

Let’s get into the top 10!

10 – Andrei Arshavin International Rookie Sticker – #456 & #503 – True Rookie Sticker from Russian Football Premier League 2002

"Andrei

Andrei Arshavin was a dynamic and versatile attacking midfielder known for his exceptional dribbling ability, vision, creativity, and clinical finishing. He possessed excellent ball control, quick acceleration, and agility, and had the flair to produce unexpected moments. Arshavin was also adept at delivering precise passes and deadly crosses to set up scoring opportunities for his teammates. His ability to read the game and make intelligent runs into the box made him a constant threat in the attacking third.

During the Euro 2008 tournament, Arshavin showcased his talent on the international stage, playing a pivotal role for the Russian national team. This tournament was when the world learned who Arshavin was. He was the standout performer for Russia, scoring crucial goals and providing assists to propel his team to the semi-finals of the competition. Arshavin was named in the team of the tournament and later earned a move to Arsenal.

At Arsenal he initially shone very bright but unfortunately not for a long time. He is still considered a cult hero at Arsenal despite his inconsistent form. When he arrived he was on absolute fire and Arsenal fans wont forget it. We all remember those 4 goals at liverpool!

Here is his international rookie sticker. I think its a really nice one, especially considering his lack of products. If I am not mistaken, this is his second ever sticker! If not taking all this into account, this is an awesome sticker for his performances in the tournament alone!

9 – Ivan Rakitic International Rookie Sticker – #192 – True Rookie Sticker from Panini German Bundesliga 2007/08

During the Euro 2008 tournament, Rakitic was a young and promising talent and despite his age, saw many minutes. Rakitic’s playmaking skills were on display as he assisted in a 2-1 victory against a strong Germany. Unfortunately, Croatia were knocked out in the quarter finals against Turkey, where Rakitic saw 120 minutes.

Rakitic has gone onto have a fantastic career, playing for big clubs such as: FC Basel, Schalke, Sevilla and FC Barcelona! Most notabely he spent 6 seasons at Barcelona, winning 4 La Liga titles and a UCL title. On top of that he has 106 caps for Croatia and considered a part of their golden generation.

This international rookie can technically be called his rookie sticker also, as his rookie sticker from Bundesliga 2007/08 was produced in the same year. A very solid rookie sticker.

He knew the perfect weight to put balls into to box, giving the striker the best opportunity to score goals.

During the 2008 Euros, Fabregas played a crucial role in Spain’s midfield. His ability to distribute the ball effectively and link up play between defence and attack was instrumental in Spain’s possession-based style of play. Fabregas showcased his versatility by adapting to different tactical setups and playing alongside various midfield partners. He contributed both defensively and offensively, providing assists and creating chances while also helping to maintain possession and control the rhythm of the game. His biggest game came in the semi finals, as he produced two assists as Spain defeated Russia 3-0.

From being a wonderkid at Arsenal and developing into their captain, Fabregas has gone onto have a very successful career. It hurts that it wasn’t at Arsenal, but alas it is true. He won a La Liga with Barcelona and two EPL titles at Chelsea. On top, he won two Euros and a World Cup. He finished his career with 110 caps with Spain. As far as I’m concerned, thats a huge career. A very nice sticker and one thats close to my heart.

Modric’s career has gone on to be legendary! A ballon d’or and 5 UCL titles, absolutely crazy! Interestingly, most people think this sticker is his international rookie sticker. I was also guilty of this, but after some research I found it was in the Navarrete Mundial Alemania 2006. Edición Extraordinaria set. Nonetheless, a very strong sticker and one everyone should aim to collect.

Franck Ribery is a iconic winger known for his exceptional dribbling skills, agility, speed, and versatility on the field. As a winger, Ribery has the ability to take on defenders with his quick footwork and explosive acceleration. He possesses excellent close control and ball manipulation, allowing him to navigate through tight spaces and create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. At his time at Bayern, he formed one of the all-time great wing partnerships with Arjen Robben, with the duo being name “Robbery”. Ribery dominated of the left wing while Robben tormented defenders on the right wing.

During the Euro 2008 tournament, Ribery was a key player for the French national team, operating primarily as a left winger. It was, in truth, a poor tournament for Ribery and France, as they failed to register a single win, getting knocked out in the group stage.

I think at the peak of his powers, Ribery was unlucky no to win a Ballon d’Or. He was blitzing it for Bayen, winning Bundesliga and UCL titles. He was just unfortunate to be in the era of the Messi and Ronaldo rivalry. In any case, this is a very strong sticker for one of the icons of the game!
