If you are new to soccer cards and wanting to get started, the first thing you might do is go to the google machine and type, “Soccer cards near me”. In truth, this approach isn’t going to be too successful. Luckily I am here to give you some guidance on your quest to find soccer cards. This article will outline the easiest ways to find soccer cards near you.

Local Card Shops

Depending on your location, a local card shop might be a good place to start. The biggest advantage to local card shops is – in most cases – they are trustworthy and reliable. In addition to this, they will be able to answer some questions you might have on potential card sets you may be interested in, or just about the hobby in general. Card shops are a great option for those who are anxious about dealing with vendors on the internet, or that have reservations on the reliability of the postal system.

It should be noted that prices you will see on the internet may be cheaper that the prices you may see in a card shop. It is important to note that this is a regular occurrence. Card shops are businesses like any other shop front and they need to slightly mark up product to keep their head above the bottom line. Yes, it is likely you will be paying a higher price, but you must also consider that you are paying for convenience as well. Instead of potentially dealing with postal issues or complications with an unknown internet vendor, you will have a product in hand with no questions asked.

Card shops are easy enough to find just by a simple google search. If you are lucky, there may be many in your area. I am from Melbourne, Australia. If I was to look for a card shop, I might go to google and type, “soccer card shop Melbourne”. Google will spit out a list of local card shops and you can check their respective websites to see if there are any that look interesting.

If you have performed this google search and there are no card shops near you, don’t worry! There are plenty of other ways to find soccer cards.

eBay

eBay.com, in my opinion, is the best place to buy soccer cards. eBay is a massive online marketplace where participants can buy and sell products with ease. There is thousands of soccer card listings on eBay and if you know what you are looking for, you can find some really great deals. EBay can have different platforms depending on what country you are in, for example eBay.com.au is for Australia. But in my experience, eBay.com has the largest amount of products. That being said, there can be great deals on the country specific eBay’s, but you must consider that often vendors only ship from within the given country.

In my opinion, the best deals on eBay are from auctions, where you participate in an auction that ends at a specific time. The best deals can be found when the auction in question has not many participants, thus the lower chance of opposition bids. There are also deals to be found on fixed listings, those that have an asking price and doesn’t expire until it’s purchased. It must be noted that good deals on fixed listings ussually are sold quite quick, so to find good deals on those, you will have to be vigilant! On a final note, sometimes vendors have the option of ‘make an offer’ on their listings. With this feature you can send an offer thats lower than what they are asking for; maybe they will accept.

COMC

This is one of my personal favourites and a place where I have found many bargains! COMC, is best described as a giant database of cards from all areas of collecting. COMC acts as a consigner so all the cards in their database are for sale. The magic to COMC is that when you buy cards, they will hold it for you and you can either resell it for whatever price you want, or have it shipped to a destination of your choice.

The benefits are two fold. You can make money by buying cheap and reselling on their platform without ever physically handling the card. Additionally, you can stockpile cards, for example 100 purchases, and then ship them all at once. This will drastically lower the postage costs of individually shipping 100 cards. It should be noted that there are some small fees involved with holding cards, but in my opinion, the benefits are well worth the fees.

For the sake of this article, they have countless soccer cards from hundreds of different sets. If you know who you are looking for, this is an excellent website to use. Some of the bargains you find on here are truely amazing, the longer you wait the harder they will be to find. I highly recommend making a COMC account (free of charge).

Facebook

On Facebook there are many different groups you can join that are exclusively for selling soccer cards. Often there can be fantastic deals there because there is no intermediary taking fees for the sale. I would advise doing a lot of research before spending big money on Facebook because prices can vary greatly.

It should also be noted that the safety of the transaction isn’t the safest on Facebook and can have a high concentration of scammers. Often groups will discover who these people are and self police but it is something you should be vary of.

Facebook also has a marketplace, ‘Facebook Marketplace‘, where deals can be found, but I would advise sticking to the groups. Most groups will best suited to a certain area, for example, the EU or USA. Depending on where you are, choose the best group suited to your location.

Local Marketplaces

Each country usually has its own buy, sell and swap pages. In Australia it’s Gumtree, in other countries it can be something different. Great deals can be found on these marketplaces for a patient buyer. It should be noted again, that scammers can be active on these type of marketplaces so be very careful.

Flea Markets

A Flea Market is a street market selling second-hand goods. This is a low probability but high reward technique. Often there won’t be any soccer cards available, but if there is, you might find the deal of a lifetime! Often goods found at flea markets can be found very very cheap, especially if the vendor isn’t quite sure what exactly they are selling.

Final Word

If you are looking into getting into the soccer card game, I wish you the best of luck. If you have any questions, you can comment below or contact me on my Instagram.

To sum up, if you are looking for soccer cards, I would advise on eBay and COMC first to get a hang of things. There are plenty of cheap options to begin with. Also, if there is a card store near you, try to utilise their knowledge but in some cases, they will know nothing about soccer. The best thing you can do is do your own research yourself to not rely on others. It is the funnest part!
