Lyon, the defending champions, were looking to win their seventh consecutive Ligue 1 title. However, they faced stiff competition from Marseille, Bordeaux, and Nancy. The race for the championship was closely contested, with several teams taking turns at the top of the league table throughout the season.

In the end, Lyon managed to secure their seventh successive Ligue 1 title with a comfortable 4-point margin over runners-up Bordeaux. Lyon finished the season with 79 points and losing 7.

At the bottom of the table, three teams were relegated to Ligue 2 for the following season. These teams were Metz, Strasbourg, and Lens.

Panini FOOT 2007-2008 brought some new faces and some future fan favourites! A great set for rookie stickers! Let’s get into the list!

10 – Patrick Kluivert – #152 – Final Sticker of Career – Rookie Sticker from Panini Voetbal 1994/95

"Kluivert

Patrick Kluivert is a former Dutch professional footballer who played as a striker. He was known for his technical ability, speed, and scoring prowess.

During his playing career, Kluivert played for several top European clubs, including Ajax, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Newcastle United. In the 2007/08 season, he played for Lille in the French Ligue 1.

Kluivert was a clinical finisher and had excellent positioning, which allowed him to score goals from different angles and situations. He was also a strong header of the ball and was a constant threat to the opposition defence. Kluivert was at his best for FC Barcelona, where he scored over 100 goals for the Catalan giants.

During his time at Lille, Kluivert had a modest season, scoring 4 goals in 14 appearances. Late in his career, he struggled with injuries and he finished his career with Lille.

I think this is a cool piece being the final sticker of his career. A cheap pick up for an icon of the game.

9 – Bafétimbi Gomis – #412 – Rookie Sticker from Panini Foot 2004/05

"Gomis

Gomis is a powerful and aggressive forward who often uses his physicality to outmuscle defenders and win aerial duels. He is also a tireless worker who never gives up on a ball, chasing defenders to win possession for his team.

One of Gomis’ most notable attributes is his finishing ability. He is an excellent goal-scorer who was deadly in front of the goal. Gomis has a keen sense of timing and positioning, which allows him to make intelligent runs and find space in the box.

During his 2007/08 season with St. Etienne, Gomis was the leading scorer in Ligue 1, with 16 goals in 35 appearances. He helped the team finish 5th in the league that season. Gomis’ ability to hold up the ball and link up with his teammates was also a key asset, and he was often involved in creating chances for his fellow attackers.

St. Etienne finished uncharacteristically high on the table this season (in this era). Much down to Gomis who was their top scorer and joint third top scorer in the league. For this reason, I think this is a nice sticker, sneaking in at number 9.

Modeste’s rookie sticker is an interesting one for collectors. He is an unusual player; he either scores boat loads of goals, or scores hardly any. Currently at Borussia Dortmund, he may become more sought after if they win the league this season. At the time of writing, they are 1 point behind leaders, Bayern, with 4 matches to go.

Mandanda’s career has been marked by consistent excellence and longevity. He has been a fixture at Marseille for over a decade, and has played a key role in their successes over the years. For this reason, I think this is a great rookie sticker to add to any collection.

6 – Moussa Sissoko Rookie Sticker – #488

"Moussa

Cissé’s most memorable moment with Newcastle came in 2012 when he scored a stunning goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It was already 1-0, courtesy of a Cissé strike, when Cissé unleashed a spectacular swerving shot from 30 yards out that sailed past Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and into the top corner of the net, for his second goal of the game. The goal was widely hailed as one of the best of the season and earned Cissé the Premier League Goal of the Season award.

He continued to excel and establish himself as one of the most promising young strikers in French football.

Gameiro has always been a reliable goal scorer, playing for the likes of PSG, Sevilla, Atletico and Valencia. Overall, Gameiro was a dynamic and skillful striker who was able to score goals consistently at the highest levels of football.

With over 200 career goals at some of the biggest teams in Europe, I think this is a great rookie sticker!

Benzema is immensely popular for everything he has achieved in the game. If he did nothing this season, this sticker would still be valuble as its his second year sticker. The fact he won the golden boot and player of the year makes it even better! Highly recommended sticker!

2 – Miralem Pjanić Rookie Sticker – #254

"Miralem

Miralem Pjanić is a Bosnian football player known for his creative midfield skills and free-kick abilities. He began his professional career at Metz in the 2007/08 season, where he played a significant role in the midfield.

He is known for his excellent dribbling skills, close control, and ball retention, which allows him to maintain possession in tight spaces. He is also a very good passer of the ball, with a wide range of passing and the ability to deliver incisive through-balls.

One of the standout features of Pjanić’s game is his free-kick abilities. He has a reputation for being one of the best free-kick takers in the world, with the ability to bend the ball around walls and into the top corner of the goal. He has scored numerous goals from free-kicks throughout his career, both at club and international level.

In the 2007/08 season, Pjanić played 32 games for Metz, scoring 4 goals, but, unfortunately Metz were relegated. Despite being just 17 years old at the time, he was already considered one of the best players in the team, and his performances caught the attention of several top European clubs. At the end of the season, he signed for French giants Lyon, where he continued to develop his skills and establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

In my opinion, Miralem is up there with the greatest ever free kick takers. He has had a fantastic career playing for the like of Lyon, Roma, Juventus and Barcelona. One of my personal favourite stickers and a rookie that is highly unappreciated. I think this sticker would be much more respected if he wasn’t from Bosnia.
