I have been a 1 of 1 reporter for the World Cup 2026 collection on my instagram. Having stumbled into this position, I often get messages for found 1 of 1s that turn out to be fake AI generated stickers. The most famous example is the Cristiano Ronaldo 1 of 1 – see here.
This article will outline some of the lessons I have learned with the communities help to identify fake 1 of 1s, and I will point out flaws in some of the stickers I have been sent. I will be using Kylian Mbappe’s 1 of 1 as a reference point as the “real sticker”. Note: if using a phone, zooming is necessary.
At the point of writing, I will outline the mistakes I have seen, but more may appear so stay tuned.
The Cristiano Ronaldo 1 of 1
I was sent this Ronaldo and the first instinct was it was fake, but I wasn’t exactly sure why. It looked in almost too perfect condition.
I posted it online asking the community whether they thought it was real or fake, and asking the reasons. The community did not disapoint!

The Comparison

The Errors
- To start with, we can look to the 1 of 1 on the Ronaldo. It looks bolded and almost 3D – not entirely obvious but it looks off.
- Moving to the top left we see the 2 on the Ronaldo has no colour and is grey to black. Comparing to the Mbappe, there should be colour there.
- Down the bottom of the Ronaldo sticker we see the background colour to the text is red. This should be the same colour as the Mbappe sticker as this colour is coded for position.
- The Portugal kit has a wave pattern. We see on the Ronaldo sticker, there is no pattern, or a feint pattern.
The Bradley Barcola 1 of 1
Now this one had me tricked for a while and I had it up on my 1 of 1 tracker article. The only real criticism I had at the time of posting was it looks “too clean”.

The Comparison

The Errors
- It seems very obvious once the comparison is shown, but the “FRA” on the Barcola should be in white text instead of the blue you would find on a standard base sticker.
- We see the white part of Mbappe’s “2” is white above the first part. When comparing to Barcola, we can see the part that should be white matching the background of the sticker.
Sead Kolasinac 1 of 1
I will admit this one tricked me by my own complacency. It looks clean, but in my mind I thought who would fake a Sead Kolasinac – no offence to the former gunner!
In truth, it was not a good fake.

The Comparison

The Errors
- Looking to the bottom right, we see no writing on the Kolasinac sticker, when it should say “BIH”.
- The 1 of 1 on the Kolasinac should be inside the yellow 6 as we see its on the inside of the red 6 for Mbappe.
- Closely related, the yellow 6 should be higher, overlapping the 2.
- The 2 on the Kolasinac shows a bit of red, accoriding to the pattern of other stickers, it should be a light blue like the lower part of the sticker.
Final Word
You have been given an insight into the Panini World Cup 2026 1 of 1 fakes. Yes, its a minefield out there! These are just a few examples I have had to deal with from direct messages. I am sure there would be other flaws to look out for!
Thanks for reading, and safe collecting!
